Fall foliage New England colors are spectacular !
Nature transforms the landscape into beautiful combinations of orange, red and yellow.
While most people think of Vermont and New Hampsire as top destinations for "leaf peeping", Martha's Vineyard is also a great spot to visit in the Fall for foliage viewing. There are many varieties of trees that change color and you won't have to fight crowds on the ferry or in the restaurants ! You'll even save on the cost of lodging since most hotels and inns reduce their prices after Labor Day.
For a scenic drive, we recommend driving from the Vineyard Haven area out towards Aquinnah (Gay Head) along State Road. You could also choose to do this journey on a moped or bicycle, if the weather is warm enough, and have a slower pace and no roof over your head !
A truly unique experience might be to combine this journey, viewing the foliage along the way, with a stop at the clay cliffs in Aquinnah, and then a stop for the sunset at Menemsha...fabulous New England foliage, amazing colorful cliffs dropping into the ocean and a beachside sunset...where else can you experience this !
